RHI is a leading manufacturer and supplier of high quality ISO products used for flow control and molten stream protected continuous casting of steel.

In cooperation with our partners, RHI provides process integrated flow control solutions for optimum casting performance and maximum value in use. Centred on our total commitment to top quality, we strive for excellence and aim to establish RHI as the preferred choice for ISO. The main function of RHI ISO products in continuous casting is the safe and controlled transfer of the liquid steel from the ladle to the mould via the tundish.

In April 2008, RHI acquired two ISO plants (formerly Foseco plc) in Bonnybridge (Scotland) and Saybrook (USA) from the Cookson Group plc. As a result the DELTEK ISO manufacturing and technological capabilities are being fully integrated into RHI, making it the second largest ISO manufacturer worldwide. The resulting global production and sales network will aim to provide leading edge technology and optimal service for customers in all regions.

In doing so the product must:

• Protect the liquid steel stream from reoxidation and nitrogen pick-up
• Provide optimum flow patterns
• Be resistant to thermal shock
• Resist corrosion due to aggressive steel grades, slag, tundish cover powder and mould flux
• Resist mechanical stress due to contact with refractories or abrasion due to high steel turbulence
