Nonferrous Metal Refractory Seminar in Lima, Peru
The Nonferrous Metal Refractory Conference, organised and sponsored by RHI Chile, RHI AG and RHI’s refractory distributor Integres, took place over 3 days (11 – 13 Nov. 2008) at the well-known “Club de Regatas Lima”, located 30km outside of Lima, Peru. 30 participants from numerous companies, research institutions, and refractory distributors attended the conference, which focused on refractory applications in the base metals industry.
The meeting was inaugurated by Mr. Michael Wiessler (Sales Director Americas, RHI Refractories Non-Ferrous Metals Division, Vienna) and Mr. Patricio Ruz (Sales Director, RHI Chile Non-Ferrous Metals Division, Santiago) with an overview of the Non-Ferrous Metals Division’s internal organisation and its worldwide activities.
Twelve presentations provided the basis for subsequent discussions and covered topics including refractory installation techniques, maintenance methods, furnace campaign life, smelting and refining technologies, and innovative product application. The speakers included both and invited specialists from industry and research institutes as well as RHI personnel.
The overwhelming message from the seminar was that companies in the non-ferrous metal area are investing in smelting technologies not only in order to raise their plant capacity, but also to respect the tight environmental regulations.
Furthermore, it was unanimously acknowledged by the participants that high refractory quality standards, excellent delivery service, and strong technical support are indispensable ingredients for a reliable and efficient customer relationship in South America’s non-ferrous metal market.
