Press release - RHI receives another quality certificate for workplace health promotion   06/04/2008

On Tuesday, 3 June 2008, Dr. Clemens-Martin Auer presented Quality Certificate 2 to successful Austrian companies in the Vienna Twin Tower on behalf of Federal Minister Dr. Andrea Kodolsky.

RHI received a total of three awards for its locations in Vienna, Radenthein and Veitsch, which had received Quality Certificate 1 three years ago and applied for Quality Certificate 2 this year. The fact that the award has now been granted confirms that RHI has successfully integrated workplace health promotion (WHP) in its company routine.

The Fund for a Healthy Austria sponsors the RHI sites that received the award with 5,000 euros each, which are invested in further WHP projects.

The Quality Certificate

Twice a year, the Austrian Network for Workplace Health Promotion, in which the insurance institution for rail and mining is also represented, awards the WHP quality certificate to Austrian companies.

The WHP activities must pursue a holistic understanding of health and be integrated into work processes, be part of the company philosophy and place an emphasis on employee participation. The success of the measures and activities must be evaluated on a regular basis.

“It is an important step towards quality assurance of prevention and health promotion if all those operations are distinguished that develop and successfully implement measures to optimise operational framework conditions”, Federal Minister Dr. Andrea Kdolsky emphasized in a message. In addition, Kdolsky said, there is a three-level quality assurance system:

“With the WHP quality certificate, the WHP Charter and the Prize for Workplace Health Promotion, criteria are created on a uniform basis, thus making workplace health promotion assessable and plausible in terms of sustainability. Moreover, standardised workplace health promotion can be evaluated on a qualitative and quantitative level.”
