Grand Decoration of Honor in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria for Dr. Andreas Meier

On January 31, 2008 Federal Minister Dr. Martin Bartenstein presented the Grand Decoration of Honor in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria to GD Dr. Andreas Meier, Chief Executive Officer of RHI AG. This order is conferred by the Federal President Dr. Heinz Fischer.

Dr. Meier, in his former position as vice CEO and the present chairmanship of the board of management of RHI AG was significantly responsible for the successful turnaround of the RHI Group.

As basis of the global success of the company as the word market leader the modernisation of the Austrian plants are to be mentioned as an elementary contribution to RHI’s competitiveness. About € 150 million were invested into the Austrian sites, mainly into the production plants. As a positive consequence jobs of high qualified employees were maintained and safeguarded for the long term. This technology boost built the premise for a competitive production in Austria further on. Besides, Dr. Meier initiated the optimisation of exploitation methods on Austrian magnesite mining sites. This politics contributes to a long term supply of RHI with high quality raw materials from the own production.
